BRITISH ECO FRANCHISE PROSPECTUS
1. WELCOME TO BRITISH ECO.
British Eco is a unique business opportunity in a business area that is set to grow in a spectacular fashion over the next few years and yet uniquely is a sector which at the moment is very much under-exploited in the U.K.
As energy prices continue to rise and the government legislates for lower carbon emissions the demand for renewable energy is there for all to see.
British Eco is an installer of renewable energy for homes and small businesses. We are looking for partners to sell our products in an allocated area and to join with us in helping the UK meet its needs to produce energy in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
2. WHAT IS BRITISH ECO?
British Eco offers a solution to homes, businesses, local authorities, schools and charities to install affordable and reliable renewable energy products. We help to cut energy costs therefore enabling individuals and organisations not only to reduce their energy costs in the long term but also to reduce their impact on the environment. The products that British Eco sell and install use the heat from the sun to heat water or generate electricity. They use the heat in the ground or in the air to generate heat more efficiently. They re-cycle the rainwater that comes from the sky and they use wood and other sources of fuel that can be regenerated.
British Eco is independent of any manufacturer and can therefore source the best solutions at the best price thus staying ahead of the competition and giving the customers an attractive pay back period.
We work with our clients in looking at what renewable energy solutions are suitable for that particular client. It is our ambition to build a reputation for sound impartial advice even if it does not lead to an immediate sale. We value our reputation and it is our objective to build a long term business not just to look for short term sales.
We work with architects, builders and developers to help them meet the necessary planning approvals which are an increasing requirement for new housing developments. We see a substantial element of our business coming from residential and commercial extensions and new build where fitting renewable energy solutions is far easier.
We offer our franchisees a partnership working with us. You will sell the solutions which we use our skills and experience to source. Once you have completed a sale we come and install the product quickly and efficiently.
3. THE RANGE OF BRITISH ECO PRODUCTS
British Eco sells a wide range of renewable energy solutions. We have very good central technical support which can answer any question regarding any particular product or installation.
- Solar Thermal. These are panels which we put on a south facing roof which provide hot water on sunny days even in the winter. They are ideal for domestic hot water systems. There are two systems, one is the evacuated tube which is made up of a number of glass tubes and the other is large flat panel.
- Solar PV. These are panels of photovoltaic cells which generate electricity directly from sun light. They are very popular with commercial installations with significant demand for electricity and also for blocks of flats. New development requires a significant proportion of renewable energy and PV cells are a very good way of satisfying this requirement.
- Rainwater Harvesting. Rainwater can be taken straight off a roof and filtered and then stored in underground tanks. The water can then be used for outside functions such as watering the garden, washing the car and then inside the house can be used for running washing machines or flushing wcs.
- Heat pumps. A heat pump takes heat from the air or the ground and concentrates it providing an economical steady supply of hot water which can be used for domestic water or central heating. They are ideal for underfloor heating.
- Wind Turbines. Small wind turbines are a very attractive way of generating electricity for farms, businesses and country estates where there is plenty of space to install a turbine.
- Biomass Boilers. These are boilers for domestic and commercial heating running off logs, wood chips or wood pellets. The pellet versions have automatic feeds and are particularly popular in commercial installations.

5. BACKGROUND TO BRITISH ECO
British Eco was established in 2002 as one of the first businesses selling green and eco products. Andrew Moore bought the website business in June 2006 and incorporated British Eco Ltd with a vision to transform the business into a leading independent provider of renewable energy solutions for homeowners, businesses, charities, schools and the public sector. The company wanted to offer simple, clear advice on a wide range of quality renewable energy solutions, at affordable prices, to encourage individuals and organisations to adopt renewable energy for the first time.
The company was further strengthened in 2008 with the recruitment of two new Directors and a Chairman, all of whom have brought investment, experience and new skill sets to the company at Board level. Paul Sellars (Chair), Tony O'Connor (Planning & Development) and Tim McLeman (Engineering) now complete the Board with Andrew. Although British Eco is still in it's early growth stages, the company has already established a growing portfolio of products, clients and installations around the country and is well placed to meet the growing demand for quality renewable energy solutions, sold by well trained professionals.
6. THE MARKET FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS
The world has changed over the last few years. A day does not go by without mention of climate change, greenhouse gases or carbon emissions. Whether you are an individual, a business or a country you have to think now about the cost of energy and the impact that generating that energy has on the environment.
Renewable energy is not only here to stay but it is an increasingly important area of business. We are firmly of the view that the market for these technologies, although relatively immature at the moment, is set to grow massively in the near future particularly when feed-in tariffs are introduced within the next 12 months.
The main drivers for the increasing demand for renewable energy are:
- High energy costs.
- Increasing legislation.
- Individual and corporate awareness of the environment.
High Energy Costs.
Whether you are an individual, a business, a school or a charity you will have experienced significant increased costs of energy over the past five years. Energy from fossil fuels is using up a scarce resource whereas energy from renewable sources by definition costs the earth nothing. Everybody is conscious of the price of electricity, gas and water and we know for certain that over time these costs will increase. Therefore if you install renewable energy today as time goes by the pay back period gets shorter and shorter. The cost of energy is on everybody's agenda.
Legislation
At both national and local government levels there is increasing legislation for individuals, businesses, charities and government organisations to ensure that a proportion of the energy consumed comes from renewable sources. A lot of this legislation is in respect of new build houses and business premises. It is a requirement of granting planning consent that renewable energy is used in a new building. The government recently announced its intention to require all houses in the UK to install Smart meters by 2020. These meters show the precise consumption of energy in a household and work well with renewable systems.
Awareness.
We are all increasingly aware of the environmental impact or what we do. At an individual level we are using low energy light bulbs and want our houses to be better insulated. Businesses see it as a very positive marketing tool to promote the fact that they are environmentally sensitive.
7. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
We are looking for motivated ambitious individuals who can sell to both house holders and to businesses. One of the strengths of our business model is the fact that we can generate small, quick sales with individuals in domestic situations whilst at the same time developing longer term relationships with businesses and property professionals.
You should be presentable, articulate, intelligent and be able to look carefully at the sales strategy for your area. Whilst we will feed you a steady supply of leads, you will need to develop your own marketing strategy, which we can help you with, in order to generate your own sources of leads and to exploit the local market in your area to the fullest extent.
In time you may need to develop a team. As we see the business taking off you will need to have people working for you.
You need to have empathy with the products and solutions that British Eco offers.
8. HOW DO YOU BECOME A SPECIALIST IN RENWEABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS.
British Eco offers you first class training and technical support. Combined with your enthusiasm for the solutions you will very soon stand out as an expert in the field.
What you don´t know we will provide you with good technical support.
Our training is ongoing so we will keep you up to date with all technical matters, product development and the ever increasing legislation.
